1. get informed:

There’s a few simple ways Y Vote can help you get informed about things like voting, democracy and other related topics.

When you Pledge to Vote we’ll keep you in the loop with articles, lists and actions you can take to make your voice heard via our e-news. Don’t worry, we don’t have any interest in flooding your inbox! You can also join us on Facebook and Insta if that’s more your thing.

2. Ask A nerd:

If you’re thinking it, other people probably are too. Submit your politics, democracy & voting related questions here and we’ll do our best to get some expert advice out to you and our wider community. Don’t worry, you can choose to remain anonymous :)

3. Run a Pledge to Vote campaign in your community:

We hear stuff all the time like:

“Talking to my friends, they all said they were going to donkey vote” or “I don’t know where to begin and I don’t really know what actions will make an impact anyway”.

One of the most powerful ways to create change is through conversations.

If you’re looking for something practical and high impact that you can do right now, you can support your friends and peers to make their vote count by running a Pledge to Vote campaign in your community. This will involve having a bunch of conversations with young people in your community about how to check their enrolment, the importance of voting at all levels of government and how to make their vote count.

The Y Vote ‘Pledge to Vote’ toolkit includes the essential materials you need to run a Pledge to Vote campaign in your community.

4. Become a content contributor

Y Vote’s content is produced by an awesome team of content contributors under 30 years old. All of us have come here because we believe in democracy but know how hard it can be to make our voices heard. One of the most common things we hear is how hard it is to know where to find trustworthy information. Our goal is to provide a jumping off point for navigating the tricky process of getting informed and taking meaningful action.

5. Apply for Y Vote’s Emerging Civic Leaders program.

We’re looking for energetic, self-motivated problem solvers to lead Pledge to Vote campaigns in your local community!

To help you supercharge your campaign (and support you to develop important skills for study, career & life), we've created a jam-packed program called Emerging Civic Leaders so that you can build practical skills, gain experience and strengthen our democracy all in one go!
